2023 Summer class: the Food Supply Chain week
The last week of our English summer classes at SAIS is here.
As we reach the end of this amazing journey together, we are diving deep into the captivating theme of the Food Supply Chain and the transition from small-scale to mass production. Throughout this course, we will be exploring the intricate processes that bring food from the farm to our tables. From sustainable farming practices to distribution networks and consumer behavior. We will gain valuable insights into the challenges and innovations within the food industry.
Today, the students were introduced to animals and vegetable family farming. They investigated modern farming tools and large machinery used. There was also a display of fruits, veggies, animals that can be eaten, and how they are cultivated /rear. The students were all excited as they tasted each variety.
Under the theme “Food Supply Chain/Small to Mass Production,” the students at SAIS embarked on an intriguing journey exploring the fascinating world of potato processing! From the vibrant markets to the delightful crunch of chips, they delved into every step of the potato’s transformation.
The students began by studying the complexities of the food supply chain, learning about the journey of potatoes from farm to table. They discovered the incredible efforts and collaboration involved in ensuring a steady supply of this beloved vegetable to meet consumer demands.
They moved on to the processing stage. From washing, peeling, and slicing, to seasoning and packaging in zip-lock bags. The students followed each step meticulously, mastering the art of turning potatoes into crispy, delectable chips.

The last friday, we bid farewell to an amazing summer session here at SAIS! Our dedicated students have successfully completed their summer classes, and what better way to celebrate than with a fantastic feast, bingo games, and mini-indoor shopping. It was a great time full of fun. The past few weeks have been filled with learning, growth, and memorable experiences. Our students have worked tirelessly, pushing themselves to new heights, and embracing the challenges along the way. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them. As the summer winds down, it’s time for a well-deserved break. Our students are embarking on exciting holiday adventures, exploring new places, and enjoying some quality time with family and friends. We hope this break provides them with relaxation, rejuvenation, and an opportunity to recharge their batteries before the next academic year.
We can’t wait to welcome everyone back in August, as we continue our journey of knowledge, inspiration, and personal growth together.
